Project Tips: Using
Mayco paint Stroke and Coat® on top of Mayco's Pottery Coat™ increases the depth of colors. This also lets a more natural shading in Stroke and Coat® colors develop when fired. Applying no more than two coats of Stroke and Coat® over Pottery Coat™ will allow the base coat to influence the darker shading of the Stroke and Coat®. Pottery Coat™ PC-502 Speckled Buff and PC-504 Concrete feature a gritty surface, which causes Stroke and Coat® to appear “pebbled” when used on top of these glazes.
The combination of the earth tone colors from
Mayco paint Pottery Coats™ and the bright colors from Stroke and Coat®
Mayco ceramic glazes‚ elicit images of a garden in bloom: dark colors of the soil, shrub branches and stems, bright colors of flowers and butterflies. Garden decorations, vases, planters, birdhouses, etc. are all appropriate bisque shapes for the following technique.
Tipping: Leaving the previous color on the brush, lightly dip the brush into a second color. The point of tipping is to achieve a blending of the two colors. Applying the second color to the first while still wet helps with the blending process. Tipping contaminates the source of the second glaze; therefore, dispensing the glazes onto a palette, dish or tile is recommended.
